Hello my family, friends and my people. My name is Kaylyn Rose Bunion. I am of the Mexican People Clan, born for the Bitter Water people. The Red-Running-Into-Water Clan is my maternal grandfather’s clan and the Towering House People are my paternal grandfather’s clan. In this way, I am a Navajo Woman. I am twenty-four years old and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation. Kirtland, New Mexico is where I hang my hat. I am the daughter of Jonah and Kathy Bunion of Kirtland, New Mexico.
I am employed at a financial institution in Farmington, New Mexico, where I am currently taking classes to receive my Commercial and Agriculture Lending Diploma. My hobbies include rodeo, trail riding, softball, basketball, 4-H, fashion, weight training and volunteer work. I am one of the many, that truly believe that our youth are our future because I was once that little girl in the stands watching, wanting to be a rodeo cowgirl. I want to set a positive example for our younger generations to come, for those who look to me as their leader and friend. As Miss Indian Rodeo, I am the face of all Indian National Final Rodeo Regions, contestants, stock contractors, sponsors and rodeo officials but I know that the heart of rodeo is in the people and livestock who make it possible. I want to show my respect for the generations of hardworking individuals and families that bring about our western way of life, to the legends of yesterday, the stars of today, the hopefuls of tomorrow and to all our faithful fans of Indian Professional Rodeo. As your 2018 Miss Indian Rodeo, I am honored, humbled and prepared to represent the timeless tradition of Indian Professional Rodeo!
